after months and months of getting prepared - browsing through the web for infos, getting advise from experts, friends, family members etc, im convinced that im now ready for it- im getting a pet snake soon.
a few months back, before i even propose this to anybody, i've been receiving objections of all kind from all parties already. i know i know all their arguments are sound. it makes perfect sense -who the hell keeps a snake as pet? what if it escapes? worse still, what if it bites you? isnt it dangerous? hello, people die from snakebites - arent you afraid? etc etc. concerns were thrown as desperate attempts to stop me from getting a pet snake. then there's the issue of legality. doesnt you need a license for that? well the legality of keeping a snake isnt really an issue here since im not getting a venomous one - from what i know, the one im getting (bronzeback) is totally harmless - theres absolutely no need for any paperworks for all the matter.
then there's the concern whether i can find time for it. well, it dont need my time. snakes mind their own business playing dead, shredding skins and playing hide and seek with soon-to-be-meal mice.
i'd always wanted a pet. not something that needs loads of attention - i dont have the necessity capabilities to give love every now and then. can i? no i dont think so. dogs are overrated. i've seen how they works - blow a whistle and here they come. unlike cats, you blow a whistle, they stop, stare at you, thinks and decides whether to come at all. but cat, like dogs are needs loads of attention - all the can get - you'll need to pat them from time to time and seriously, i cant be involve in anything like that anymore. plus, maintenance doesnt come easy. they cost alot - food, neutering, injections, healthcare etc etc
so im getting a snake instead. they are soo much easier to take care. and hell they dont make sounds at night, they dont make a mess and you only feed them once/twice a week. plus you dont need to spend much on their place to stay - just a tank with some branches will do. all this, i think i'll manage
however though, the reason i picked snake is because of their peculiarism. they're obsessed with anything/everything. i've seen snakes do awesome shit just to get attention like constricting broken branches, eat leaves and shit in the water dish. its amazing. dogs, on the other hand, possessed a retardedly low sense of peculiarism. there was once i dropped my wallet on the floor in the living room when i was too busy taking my sock off my feet while the other hand was supporting my body clutching the door knob, pumpkin leaped off the sofa and took a sniff at my wallet but only for a moment - not more than two seconds before jumped back to the sofa. well unlike snakes, if you drop something so small - like a rubber band inside their tank, they'll come immediately and after observing it for more than a hour or so -decided that it isnt a threat to itself, it will try to constrict it only to find it unable to do so.
and for that matter, i am utterly sure that im ready for it. i can and will, try my best to make one happy for the years to come, for at least another 20 years or so - they can live up to 20 years - well indefinitely i hope not, both in the interest of the poor thing and me
i know, peculiarism is a funny thing

to Mieee : Thank you! I'm pretty sure I am. Well at least I can say so for the moment :)
to Anon : Hmmm maybe you're right. But not to sound offensive here, I'm not really a firm believer of feng shui. Hence, its not really a problem here :) Anyway, thank you for your opinion. Appreciate it ;)
